Name: 2B Door: door pass Canon: Nier: Automata Canon Point: Route C Age: appearance and mental age is early to mid 20s, but she's a robot so she's only a few years old Appearance: here History: wiki link Personality: To understand what 2B is, first you need to understand what 2B is not. She may present to the world a cold, focused front that consistently denies all sense of personality and emotion, but the truth is far from that. Every time she tells 9S that feelings are prohibited, it's also a way to go on reminding herself. The truth of 2B is that not even her name is really her name. Rather than a B (Battle) type unit, 2B is actually an Execution, or E type. She was given the purpose of killing other YoRHa units, whether it was in the field to avoid information falling into enemy machine hands or tracking down deserting or traitorous YoRHa units. Most often, 2B was ordered to eliminate the unit 9S every single time he learned too much about the truth behind YoRHa and exactly what was going on behind the scenes. She's had to kill him countless times and she remembers it all, and every time she got to know him, bond with him, and came to hate the cycle that showed no signs of stopping and it begins to weigh on her more and more. Desperate for the companionship and closeness of others, 2B is still destined to always kill 9S, and she ends up trying to cut herself off so she won't keep feeling that pain of losing him by her own hand. But it doesn't really work. She becomes visibly shaken when machines begin to show signs of humanity to the point where it's 9S having to remind her that what they're seeing is impossible, that machines don't have feelings. She's become someone who feels far more than you would expect, and it extends beyond 9S. There are moments of softness with her Operator, 6O, and going out of her way to find flowers to take pictures of and send to her. She treats her Operator with kindness, and it's 2B that wants to give Pascal, a machine who has built a village of passive robots, a chance to prove his peaceful ways. There's also some elements of sarcasm to her answers to instructions she gets, whether it's pointing out that they're obvious with a flat kind of tone or just returning obvious statements with a "oh really?" like it's clear to anyone paying even a little bit of attention that yeah, that. While she might present a cold exterior, under that is a compassionate, caring person, and one who will look at her second chance at life like a miracle, a gift that she didn't think she had a right to want and one that she might feel guilty for having at all considering it means the destruction of everything she knew, but now she can move forward, she can make her own choices, and it's something that will fill her with hope. Positive trait: compassionate From taking photos of flowers that her Operator will never see to returning lost machine children to their families, 2B has a softer heart than you might expect. Negative traits: deceptive Throughout their entire relationship, 2B lies to 9S about who and even what she is, over and over. It doesn't matter how she feels about him, her mission comes above her emotions and it means that she never, not once, tells him what she really is. She kills him over and over on her orders from Command, lets him believe that she's a Battle unit, and doesn't ever try to tell him the truth. violent 2B solves every problem with murder first, ask questions later. Sometimes this is because she's following orders, but during a boss battle in which she's already very upset that 9S has been kidnapped, the boss spends the whole fight insulting humans and insisting that 2B is a fool for loving them so much, and it sends her into a rage where she swears to kill him for it. YoRHa androids are built with an innate love for humans, so the idea that they're anything less than perfect is impossible to her. Where most of her kills have been efficient and graceful, for this fight 2B brutally cuts her opponent in half while cursing him. blind A result of her programming and the innate feelings of a YoRHa android, 2B carries a belief that humans are perfect beings, her perfect creators who she sees as her gods. She rejects the possibility that they're anything less than perfect and it leads her to a blind faith that will get her into a lot of trouble once she does see that humans are actually very flawed. This will cause an intense crisis of faith because she's programmed with the knowledge that that exact thing is impossible, it's something she's built an entire identity and life around, and pleasing humans and serving them is what she believes androids exist to do. Powers and Abilities: - above average strength, speed, reflexes and durability, as you'd expect from a non-human - skilled in most kinds of combat, from swords and spears to hand to hand - the ability to keep calm under pressure and get the job done - assassination and infiltration, lending to her being an E-type unit Inventory: - her sword, Virtuous Contract - the lunar tear hair accessory Samples: Log: Death is something that 2B is not afraid of. She knows that when she dies, it isn't really her. Her memories will be backed up, she will wake up in a body that matches the one that has been lost, and in the end nothing really will have come of her death besides the inconvenience of having to start over in a task that she should have been able to complete on her first try. All in all, death is not an end, just an annoying setback, and she does not fear it for herself. And that's true right up until she comes to the conclusion that with the Bunker gone, there is no more safety net. When her body is infected with a logic virus, there's no helping what must happen now. She must die, and there will be no coming back. It's never been difficult to accept her death, but when she kneels before A2 and makes her wish - watch out for 9S - it's with an overwhelming sense of sadness. She doesn't want to die. She wants to live in a world where she never has to kill Nines again, she wants to work with the androids and Pascal's village to make the world ready for humans. She wants to go on, but it isn't to be so. She thinks she might be crying when A2 strikes her down, but she doesn't remember. When she awakes with a start she knows it's wrong, but hands press her still, fingers go to lips in a sign that's clearly telling her to be quiet, and she takes the order immediately. How can she not? These are humans, and her heart leaps into her chest, her body is flooded with the feedback of a job completed, a life goal met, and if these humans told her to walk straight into a fire she would do it without a second thought. But instead all they ask for is silence and her help, and of course she nods her agreement. She never was one for excessive conversation, so it's an easy enough directive to follow. Network: Hello. I am YoRHa unit Number 2, Type B, but you may call me 2B for short. [She's totally nailing this whole polite introduction thing.] I would like to offer my service to anyone who may need it, whether it is with daily chores or as a bodyguard if anyone happens to need one. I also wonder... has it been difficult to locate fish here? I would like to learn to catch them as a human does. [And not, you know, by sending her Pod out to do the hard work for her.] That is all. Thank you for your time. |
